A. Use of the fire control systems in each basic class of American armored vehicle
This section focuses on the fire control systems of the Abrams MBT, the Bradley IFV and the vanilla armored systems. Each type and class of armored vehicle has its own particularities. Gunners are only expected to know the fundamental skills common to each class of vehicle. A ground support gunner should, however, have enough understanding of each class to be able to effectively pick up on the fly the differences between each vehicle and adapt accordingly. Russian hardware is exempted from this and is subject to its own subclass.
B. Coordination between the gunner, commander, and driver
Here, gunners are expected to understand the soft skills that go with the technical understanding of armored FCS. How to communicate targets to the commander and communicating maneuvering fire with the driver as well as decision making on engagement are key skills here. As with other communication-based skills, the norms can be taught, but experience will make all the difference.
Test
Gunning test ensures that players are able to effectively use the weapons on their vehicles. The test includes 3 vehicles, each with two parts. The three vehicles to test on are the M1A1 Abrams, the M2 Bradley, and the vanilla Slammer tank. Each vehicle should be used to hit both an array of stationary targets and varying distances and elevations, as well as a smaller subset of targets that must be hit on the move. The movement should be both the player tank and the enemy tanks.
