Drones and Spotting

Spotting

Weapons teams require spotters to operate effectively. The role of a spotter is to locate, identify, and designate targets for the gunner. Communication between the spotter and gunner is integral to the effectiveness of a weapons team. Spotters must be able to point our targets by hand, compass, and signal for direct fire, and by 8-digit map coordinates via radio communication for indirect fire.

Drones

Specialists can relay invaluable information to the team via the use of drones. They provide an overhead view of the battlefield with powerful optics and sensors. Specialists are trained to use backpack-carried drones only. This includes the AR-2 Darter and the Falcon-II. Specialists are not dedicated drone operators; they should only use drones for limited periods of time, observing a very specific area, unit, or objective, before bringing the drone back.
