Support teams bridge the gap between a fireteam and a weapons team. They trade some of the mobility and cqc capability of a traditional fireteam for heavier firepower.
Medium Machine Guns (MMG)
MMGs such as the M240 and the GPMG pack a harder punch than their LMG counterparts but are heavier and more difficult to operate. As a result, MMGs should have an assistant to carry ammunition and extra equipment such as spare barrels, a tripod, and an entrenching tool. The AMMG can also assist with zeroing in on a target since the gunner will experience high recoil.
Medium Anti Tank (MAT)
MAT weapons such as the M3 MAAWS and SMAW are reloadable, carry heavier payloads, and travel much further than LAT launchers, such as the AT4. The MAAWS also allows for an HE airburst configuration which can devastate groups of lightly armored targets and compounds. It also has a range of utility via smoke flare rounds. The role of the AMAT is to carry additional rockets and spot and range targets for the gunner.
