Overview
SOAR members who are interested in the rotary certification should approach instructors when they feel confident with basic maneuvers (landing/takeoff/full control of aircraft) with the MH-6M, UH-60M, and CH-47. The rotary certification process will focus on the fundamentals of rotary flight more than mechanical skill. This means only being good at flying little birds is not going to fly for interested members. Pilots will be expected to use any helicopter from any nation and use it well. We also expect pilots to have a favorite aircraft, however, we want pilots to be able to operate all aircraft within the specific role they are filling (Transport/CAS). Different missions call for different aircraft, and our pilots are capable of flying them all.
Prerequisites for rotary are as follows:
- BCT: Gold
- TACP Certified
Content
1) Transport
2) Light CAS
3) Heavy CAS
